The majority of people say"get over it, it was just a pet" or "don't get so emotional, it was just an animal". I'm sorry, its not that simple. A pet is a member of the family who you and the rest of the family have grown emotionally attached to and vice versa. The only difference is that your pet(dog or cat) harbor Unconditional Love for you and the family. People who have never had a pet in their family will never understand that. When my brother Mark's dog Monty was put to sleep, it affected me greatly even though Monty wasn't my dog (Cocker Spaniel)because Monty and I were well aquainted with each other hence I was emotionally attached to him. My Uncle's dog Snoopy(Beagle Collie mix)was another dog I was emotionally attached to and because I was a kid, it affected me more severly when he was euthanized. Now we come to My dog Mutley. He is a Lhasa Apso I rescued in 93 and took him into my home and I Love him like my own children but I have to be realistic. He is 14 years old now, his vision is going he is losing control of his bowels and bladder. It is only a matter of time before the Vet tells me he has to be euthanized. I will always keep Mutley in my heart and Tia will do the same for Molly for we will be reunited with our family pets one day. Right now Molly is up in Heaven watching Monty lick my Mother's feet like he used to do down here.
